The Predator Pairs Open has been one of the most succesful Open Lure Competitions of the last few years
This year we are making a couple of changes to the way the competition works, to try to help keep it as the premier one off pairs lure competition in the country.
In the first instance we will be limiting the numbers of teams who can enter to just 25 teams. This is to ensure that there is plenty of water for all anglers and that the winners catch good numbers of fish.
Secondly we will be introducing a new emphasis on quality fish. This year only the best 4 zander and best 4 perch from each team will count towards the teams overall total. So that if and when your team manages to catch 4 perch and 4 zander, you can then concentrate on trying to upgrade by catching bigger fish. No other species will count as by and large pike are so few and far between on our waters that they are caught by accident not by design.
This year their will be trophies for the teams who come first, second and third as well as special trophies for best perch and best zander. The winners will also receive £100 in cash each. 2nd will receive £50 in cash each and 3rd will receive £25 in cash each.

Pairs League Date Changes
Due to the launch of the Lure Lounge National Pairs League we have been asked by several members to change dates of our own pairs matches to avoid a clash. We have therefore moved the 5th round match to October 22nd and the final round and AGM to Feb 18th. Please update your diaries !
Getting Kids Into Lure Fishing
We will be holding our first ever adult and child event on October 1st at Knowle Locks. So bring along your son, daughter, neice, nephew, cousin or whoever you like and fish as a pair in our fun event. The day will be split into 2 x 2hour sessions. In the first session the kids will fish with a drop shot set up using real worms to ensure they get lots of bites and hopefully a few fish, then after some drinks and food there will be a second session where they will try their hand with lures. There will be lost of prizes and giveaways for the kids, so please support the event by brining an under16 along. More details to follow.
Pairs League Round 3 Open For Entries
Round 3 of the pairs league is set to be held on our prolific Warwick stretch. There have been numerous amazing catches of perch and zander on this stretch, so even if you have never entered a team into one of our pairs matches before it's well worth a go and the winning pair get tackle vouchers worth £60. New Water Fishing Very Well
Our new stretch of thr Grand Union from Stockton Locks to Calcutt has been fishing very well in the mornings before the boat traffic reaches it's height. Our Club Secretary Steve Wilson had a great catch of seds and perch there last week, so it's one to try if you haven't given the area a go yet.
NEW Singles Competition
We will be launching a fun new singles competition at the end of August, but places will be limited, so please keep an eye out for updates !
Leamington Spa Angling Association Deal
We would like to remind members that we have struck a deal with LSAA which allows LSAA members to fish our Grand Union Water between The Moorings Pub in Leamington and the Blue Lias at Stockton. In return all LACC members will have access to fish the River Leam in and around Leamington Spa. If you come across any Leamington members fishing the GU on the stretch mentioned, please treat them with courtesy and remember that they now have just as much right to fish the water as LACC members. For details of the Leam fishing please see our website

Vidar and Alan Triumph in 1st round of Pairs League
A very well attended and hotly constested first round of the club pairs league saw "Team No Name 1" which comprises Vidar Thommasen and Alan Brown come out on top with a fantastic haul of 4.44m of perch. Mike McGuire and Richard Haines came in second, fishing as "The Canalmasters" and last years champions Steve Wilson and John Cheyne took 3rd place.

RIP Jan Porter
We recently learned the very sad news that Angling Legend Jan Porter passed away. Very few people actually knew but Jan was a long standing member of thre Lure Anglers Canal Club. He joined after a conversation in Holland with our Club Chairman John Cheyne, because he thought it was a great idea and wanted to support our endevours to run a fishing club that is aimed at lure anglers. Although he rarely fished our waters, he continued to pay his subs and even renewed his membership just a few weeks before he sadly passed away. All in all Jan was a lovely man, a great angler and a proper character. May he rest in peace.
Jan Porter: A lovely man, a brilliant angler and an LACC member
Due to the LACC v LAS "Friendly Cup" event taking place this weekend, we would ask members to refrain from fishing on the Grand Union Canal Stretch between Radford Road (bridge 35) and The Welsh Road bridge (bridge 30) this weekend.
All other section sof our waters are open as normal for fishing.
Good luck to all those competing in the Cup on behalf of the LACC and tight lines to all members fishing elsewhere.
A big thank you to all members who have already renewed their membership to the club, and for all those that haven't can we remind you that 2015/16 membership ended on Feb 29th and that your renewal is now due. To re-join the club, please click the link below.

Once again we have expanded our portfolio of waters, with the addition of a further stretch of the Grand Union between Lock 11 (Stockton) to Calcutt Bottom Lock 3. This new water extends our existing stretch past the Blue Lias pub and now gives us a total of nearly 20 miles of canal fishing.
We have now published the dates for this seasons Pairs League matches and we would stress that all members are welcome to enter a team. The league is fun and friendly and includes anglers of many different skill levels, so no one should feel that they "aren't good enough" to take part. If you would like to enter but don't have a team mate, then just drop us a line and we will try to pair you up with another member in a similar situation.
