LAS AGM and Secretary's Cup fish-in Sunday April 14th

E-mail sent by John Cheyne, Tuesday, 26th March 2013 @ 9:09am

Hi All,

As you should know by now, the next Fish-in to be held on our stretch will be the LAS Secretary's Cup competition, which will be held on Sunday April 14th. This look like being a great event, with a nice trophy on offer courtesy of Kev Taylor. The day is open to LAS members only and the LAS have booked the section between the Blue Lias and the Welsh Road Bridge. The few Non-LAS Canal Club members that we have will need to fish on other section of the canal on Sunday 14th.

The day will run as follows

Meet at Blue Lias Inn at 9.00am (please park in the reservoir car park not the pub car park)

Bacon butties, tea & coffee from say 9:15 til 10:00am (FREE)

AGM - 10 til 12:00ish

Fish In - 12 til 4pm - followed by at 4:15 prize giving & refreshments.

As it is being fished on our home water I would encourage all LAS members of the Canal Club to attend. If you are going to come along, please post on the forum thread here  so that Kev knows how many to cater for.

In other news I've been in touch with the Canal & Rivers Trust about where we can put signage up on our Stretch. Typically there are lots of rules and regs, so I am arranging to meet The local Supervisor at the Blue Lias, to agree where we can put up our signs. It would be nice to get the first of them in place before the LAS AGM.

Membership cards and handout cards

E-mail sent by Andi Mytton, Monday, 18th March 2013 @ 6:33pm

Hi

All membership cards have now been posted, if for any reason you have not received yours please let me know and i'll get another out to you.

I have now received the second batch of cards for handing out to anglers that we cross paths with, these will be distributed via the AGM to LACC members and via post to others via the post in due course.

Thanks for the feedback received on the membership card so far, sorry that it was not quite a pack but it was decided that hard copy maps were an unnecesary extra cost, i'm sure that you'll all agree that the interactive map that John produced is excellent.

If you have any questions, suggestions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards

Andi

Membership card

E-mail sent by Andi Mytton, Sunday, 3rd March 2013 @ 3:26pm

Hi all

I am posting the remaining membership cards to those who have yet to receive one tomorrow.

I have delayed in sending them up to now as I have been waiting for the new handout cards to arrive, I had received the first batch but they are having to be re-printed due to the error made by the Canal and Rivers Trust.

The C&RT are funding the printing and postage of the new batch so we will forward these separately when they arrive.

Please feel free to fish in the mean time, you will have the cards I would think by Wednesday.

Slight change to the length of our stretch

E-mail sent by John Cheyne, Friday, 22nd February 2013 @ 5:12pm

Hi All,

It seems there has been an administrative error at the Canal & Rivers Trust. One small part of the stretch that we have leased was already leased to someone else !!

Basically the very first part of our Stretch at the Hatton end will now start from bridge 51 rather than from Hatton bottom Lock.

C&RT will be refunding us for printing costs on items that have been produced in good faith. It's only a very small bit we are losing so I'm not too concerned - we have negotiated such an amazingly good deal on such a huge length of canal that it would be unfair to moan too much at losing a few hundred yards. C&RT have been very supportive of the idea of a predator baised canal club up till now so I can't fault them for their efforts to help us get started.

I will get the changes made on the interactive map in due course, but please take note of the change and only fish in our designated stretch between bridge 51 and Stockton Bottom Lock.

regards

Interactive Map

Dear member,

We now have an interactive map of our stretch which shows details and pictures of every bridge and lock between Stockton and Leamington Spa. It also identifies pubs and some handy parking areas. You can view the map via our website here Interactive Map

If you have images of any bridges and locks between Hatton and Leamington or if you know of any parking spaces we have missed, please let us know by replying to this email.

4.00pm Refreshments back in the pub. This event is open to any LAS members, but not a Canal Club local members who are not also in the LAS. (Not that we have any of those yet !)

First day ticket sold!

Posted by Andi Mytton, Sunday, 10th February 2013 @ 5:13pm

  • The integration of the day ticket feature is working.

Yesterday we successfully sold our first day ticket and we have sold our first subscription via the website since it went live.

I look forward to hearing of many good captures over the next year not only from members but from valued members of the LAS and Friends who purchase day tickets.

John is continuing to work on the map/ interactive map and we should be on course to send those who havent already had their membership card one in the post in about a weeks time.
