Here is an introduction to our committee:
Chairman
John Cheyne
John was one of the founders of the club and has been a keen lure angler for many years. As Chairman he tries to ensure that the club never loses it’s key objective of being a fun, friendly organisation. His greatest skill is finding people more competent than himself to do the real work on the committee !
Membership Secretary
Steve Wilson
Steve is the guy that send out all the membership packs and welcomes everyone to the club. He is a skilled canal lure angler and was the inaugural winner of our Matchplay Championship in 2017. Along with John Cheyne he also won our first ever Pairs League Championship. Whenever there is a lure fishing competition, Steve’s name will be near the top of the leader board !
Treasurer
Vidar Thomassen
Vidar is a lure fishing legend and likes to bring all of his Norwegian calm and intelligence to both his fishing and his job as Treasurer of the LACC. With Vidar in charge of a fishing rod you can be sure that a decent fish will soon be landed and with him in charge of the club finances you can be sure that everything is in good order !
Head Bailiff
Felix Hay
Felix is the nicest, friendliest Head Bailiff you have ever met. A fairly recent convert to lure fishing, Felix has taken no time at all to get annoyingly good at it ! Felix has been trained by the Angling Trust and as well as being head bailiff for the club is also part of the National Voluntary Bailiff Service which runs in association with the Environment Agency. When he’s not fishing, Felix splits his leisure time between Astronomy and Skydiving ! ( I kid you not )
Events Secretary
Derek Holmes
New on the committee for 2018 is long standing club member Derek Holmes. Derek is an accomplished angler and without doubt, one of the nicest guys in lure fishing. The committee were absolutely delighted to welcome him on board as Events Secretary from the 2018/19 season onwards. He will be working closely with our Chairman, John Cheyne, to make sure the events schedule just get’s better and better!
The Club Members
The most important people in the LACC aren’t the committee, they are our wonderful members. There’s something about the club that brings out the best in people and you only need to attend one of our events or bump into some fellow members on the bank to experience the buzz of camaraderie that you get from proudly being a member of the Lure Anglers Canal Club !
