It’s time for round 4 of this year’s LACC pairs league on the Stratford and Grand Union canals

Booking is open for round four of the 2024-25 pairs league on the Stratford and Grand Union canals.

The match will be held on the whole of our Stratford Canal stretch and between Grand Union Bridge 56 Hatton Station and Bridge 62 Rowington on Saturday February 1 (NB this event was originally scheduled for Dec 7 but was postponed twice due to adverse weather). The canal will be split into four sections. Teams will be drawn between sections and will compete to win their section and the overall match.

The water will be closed for practising from Friday, January 24 inclusive.

Scoring will be paper-based for this match. Teams will be expected to photograph their score sheet at 3pm and send it to competition headquarters either via the LACC Facebook Messenger account or by email to lacccompetitions@gmail.com

Pairs league round 3, Stratford-upon-Avon.

Saturday February 1, 2025, 8am

8am – Registration at Stratford-upon-Avon parkway.

8.15am – Competition Briefing

8.25am – Competitors can head off to sections on foot or in car

9.00am – Fishing starts

3.00pm – Fishing ends on towpath and competitors return to Stratford-upon-Avon parkway on foot or in car. Scoresheets must be photographed at 3pm and sent into competition HQ straight away.

3.45pm – results and prize-giving

The match will be held on the following sections of canal:

Section 1: South Stratford Lock 50 Wilmcote bottom lock to Neals Bridge 58.

Section 2: Neals Bridge 58 to Bridge 53 Wootton Waven

Section 3: South Stratford Bridge 47 Old Warwick Road to Bridge 38 Broom Hall Bridge

Section 4: Grand Union Bridge 56 Hatton Station to Bridge 62 Rowington

Teams will be drawn to fish a particular section. There will be a minimum of four pairs to a section. For example, if 12-15 pairs enter, they will be drawn between sections 1, 2 and 3. If 16 or more pairs enter, they will be drawn between sections 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Where a bridge forms the boundary to a section, teams from both sections may fish under the bridge. However, you should not cast out into the next or preceding section. Where a lock forms the boundary, the first section ends above the lock and the second section starts below it.
