All fishing on LACC waters was suspended on March 25th 2020. No angling should take place on any of our waters until restrictions have been lifted by the government. A full version of this message is available in several languages below.

Small perch dominated the winning catch returns in round 1 of this year’s pairs league at Knowle.
The venue traditionally produces a match dominated by small perch. However, this year the shoals were concentrated in a few small areas and were hard to find in numbers.

No Wasps Here of Steve Wilson and Derek Holmes ran out winners with 438cms after landing on the biggest shoal of the day. Team No Name of Vidar Thomassen and Alan Brown plundered the same shoal and found five ruffe to run in second with 363cm. Team Lure Tour of John Cheyne and Gary Palmer were third with an all-perch catch of 257cm.

Some decent zander also came to the net toppoed by a 61cm fish for Tomek Cichowska of Realistic Shad. Best perch went to Gyorgy Brachna with a 35cm fish.

And a final mention has to go to the capture of two gudgeon, one for Alan Brown and one for Piotr Sroka.

It’s time to set out on the road of wresting the LACC pairs league trophy from the hands of Vidar Thomassen and Alan Brown.

Round 1 of the 2020 pairs league on 14 March at Knowle is open for booking.

It’s traditionally a perchfest – both big and small – with plenty of zander and the odd pike showing up too.

We meet at the King’s Arms near bridge 70 at 8.15am and fish up to bridge 72 Kixley Lane. All members are welcome but please book your places ahead.

The water will be closed for practising from March 6.

Please park on the grassed overflow car park at the back of the pub where possible.

The pub doesn’t open to the public for breakfast until 9.30am. However, breakfast will be available before the match for anyone that prebooks it.

Eleven teams braved Storm Dennis along the towpath of the Stratford Canal at Lowsonford to do battle in the final round of the LACC pairs league.

The destination of the league title was at stake, and places needed to be won for this year’s LACC versus LAS match.

Unbelievably, the fishing turned out to be even worse than the weather. Only four teams caught, and only 12 fish were landed on the day. Five of those were pike.

Team No Name of Vidar Thomassen and Alan Brown were runaway winners with two zander, three perch and a pike. Perchinators of Paul Claydon and Ben Wall were second with a pike and two perch, the Brummies of Rob Busby and Joel Kempson third with two pike, and Gary Palmer’s single pike helped him and club chairman John Cheyne to fourth.

Points for the biggest zander of 42cm went to Vidar and points for biggest perch of 30cm went to Paul.

It all meant a win for Vidar and Alan and Team No Name in this year’s pairs league with a grand total of 83 points. Second were Steve Wilson and Derek Holmes of No Wasps Here. Third were the Brummies of Rob Busby and Joel/Rob’s son Mike.

Chairman John Cheyne presented this year’s prizes for first, second and third at the club’s AGM held at Lowsonford Village Hall after the match.

Awards also went to Vidar Thomassen for his win in this year’s matchplay competition and to Greg Bafia for this year’s biggest zander in a competition (74cm), Alan Brown for biggest perch (36cm), and the late Greg Canter for biggest pike (98cm).

All the winners received vouchers for Todber Manor tackle shop that included a generous contribution from our sponsor Todber Manor Lure Division. Our thanks to them for their support this season, which also included prizes for the Predator Pairs in November. We are pleased to say that Todber Manor will be supporting us again in the coming season.

Booking is now open for the final round of this year’s members-only pairs league on Saturday February 15 followed by the club AGM and annual awards.

Fishing is on our Lowsonford stretch of the Stratford Canal between bridge 38 (Broom Hall Bridge) and bridge 47 (Old Warwick Road, Preston Bagot).
As usual, the water will be closed for practising from Thursday 6 February – any competitors found fishing the stretch between Thursday 6 February and the day of the match will be disqualified.

Fishing will be followed by a buffet and the club AGM at 3pm in Lowsonford Village Hall. All members are welcome to come and hear about and have their say on competitions, waters and stocking.
