No Wasps Here crowned pairs league champions

Steve Wilson and Derek Holmes of No Wasps Here were crowned 2018-19 pairs league champions at the Lure Anglers Canal Club annual prize-giving held after this year’s AGM at Knowle Village Hall.

Steve and Derek amassed 77 points thanks to two wins, two runner-up places and one third-placed finish in the five matches.

There was a tie for second place between John Cheyne and Gary Palmer/Adam Kirby of Snoek-Baar Stars and Vidar Thomassen and Alan Brown of Team No Name, who both finished with 65 points.

The prize for biggest zander caught in the pairs league went to Jamie Potts for his 62cm fish caught at Hatton. Biggest perch went to Steve Wilson for a 37cm fish caught at Knowle and biggest pike to Mike McGuire for a 58cm fish caught at the Blue Lias.

Vidar also received the Lalique Crystal trophy for his win in this year’s matchplay competition.
